1944
Founded in the United States
Franklin Electric was founded in Bluffton, Indiana, in 1944. Electric motor technology laid the foundations of our business, with submersible motors becoming central to our growth.
Our expertise in moving water developed from these beginnings, shaping our evolution into a global provider of pumps, motors and controls.
1964
Establishing our European roots
Our European story began in Wittlich, Germany, in 1964. The location played an important role in our international expansion, bringing submersible motor technology closer to customers and establishing relationships across the region.
Wittlich has evolved alongside our business. Building on its manufacturing heritage, it remains an important distribution and customer support location within our European network.
1994
Expanding our manufacturing network
The establishment of Franklin Electric in Brno, Czech Republic, strengthened our European presence. The site added manufacturing capabilities to support our regional growth and the development of our submersible motor offering.
2000–2002
Broadening our motor expertise in Italy
The integration of MSR in Cedegolo in 2000 and Coverco in Motta di Livenza in 2002 expanded our expertise in submersible motors.
These additions brought complementary capabilities in rewindable and oil-filled motor technology, broadening our product offering and strengthening our industrial presence in Italy.
2004
Bringing pumps and motors together
In 2004, we expanded into pump manufacturing, marking an important step in our development. Combining hydraulic technology with our established motor expertise enabled us to offer more complete water pumping systems.
This evolution broadened our ability to support customers across water supply, irrigation, pressure boosting and industrial applications.
2009
Advancing our pump engineering capabilities
Vertical joined Franklin Electric in 2009, building on an established relationship as a component supplier. Its expertise in stainless steel forming, design and engineering strengthened our capabilities in multistage pump technology.
The integration further developed our Italian operations, bringing complementary pump and motor expertise together within the Group.
2011
Strengthening our presence in Türkiye
İMPO joined Franklin Electric in 2011, adding established expertise in submersible pumps and motors for groundwater applications.
Our İzmir site combines manufacturing and distribution, making it an important part of our EMENA network. Its capabilities strengthen our ability to serve customers in Türkiye and neighbouring markets, bringing regional knowledge together with the resources of Franklin Electric.
2023
Expanding into drainage and wastewater
The acquisition of Hydropompe expanded our capabilities in drainage and wastewater pumping, adding specialist expertise to our Italian operations.
Our locations in Dueville, Marostica, Cedegolo, Ponte nelle Alpi and Motta di Livenza contribute complementary manufacturing and distribution capabilities, supporting a broad range of water applications.
2026
Growing closer to customers in the United Kingdom
The acquisition of Geoquip Water Solutions strengthened our presence in the United Kingdom, adding specialist groundwater expertise and established customer relationships.
This step expanded our ability to support the UK market, combining local knowledge and service with Franklin Electric’s wider range of water pumping solutions.
